Eliina Hurtig x Rakas

The atmosphere of Rakas Restaurant is complemented by the expressive acrylic and oil paintings of the Rovaniemi-based artist Eliina Hurtig (1978). Since 2004, Hurtig has held solo exhibitions throughout Finland and participated in several curated group exhibitions. As a visual artist, Eliina feels that there is space and peace in the north to concentrate on making art. As a painter, she is fascinated by the possibilities of colour in expression and its effect on the viewer. Come and see Eliina’s paintings in Rakas!

Art meets Food

Art exhibition in Rakas 2020-2024

Chef Petteri Luoto created an Art meets Food concept for Rakas restaurant, which offered a visual experience in addition to a culinary one. Luoto, who has worked in restaurants around the world and represented Finland in the world’s most prestigious Bocuse d’Or cooking competition, built his concept around a surprising combination of local ingredients and nuances from different kitchens around the world, and sustainability – as well as unique works of art inspired by the menu. Every dish on the menu was a holistic experience – taste, scent, texture and visuals – both on the plate and on the wall.
